Essay 6 My Favorite Movie

I will talk about my favorite movie. What is my favorite movie? I have watched a lot of movies, so it is difficult for me to select the best movie but I would venture to say that the best movie is “The Lord of the Rings”, which is my favorite movie.

“The Lord of the Rings” is famous as an epic high fantasy novel written by J. R. R. Tolkien, which is also the origin of the movie. The story can be divided into three parts, “The Fellowship of the Ring”, “The Two Towers”, and “The Return of the King”. Therefore, I leave out all these plots because it is too long to talk about them, so I will talk about the prologue and characters of these stories at first.

These stories concern humanoid people known as Hobbits, Elves, Men, Dwarves, Wizards, and Orcs. In addition, there is the Dark Lord, Sauron, who made Ring of Power and person who has the ring can control Middle-earth, the world of these stories. The nine braves fight with the forces of evil over the ring. The nine braves consist of various races as above so the members are Frodo who is main character, Sam, Pippin, Merry, who are Hobbits, Gandalf who is a Wizard, Aragorn, Boromir who are Men, Legolas who is a Elf, and Gimuli who is a Dwarf. Each of them has them own features. Hobbits have a kind heart, love for nature, and especially, they are short. Wizards have a special power but they become good or evil depending on using the power. Elves are noble and elegant, and what’s more, they have magical charm. They have basically immortal life. Dwarves have a keen sense of justice. Men only satisfy own desire, so they are described as feeble human in these stories.

Next, I will talk about my memorable scenes because a lot of scenes impressed me. One of the scenes was that Sam said to moribund Frodo that he can’t bear the ring’s burden but he can shoulder him. Saying so, Sam shouldered Frodo and took one step at a time. I think there was nobody but was moved to tears watching this scene, so this scene is my most memorable scene. In addition, I was impressed that there was “Elvish languages”. The language was made by J. R. R. Tolkien and came from Old Celtic. There are two characteristics in the language. First, it sounds a song for men so most of men can’t understand their language. Second, their words including dull sound were used in a bad sense. Therefore, the author, Tolkien creates an origin language. It is wonderful for me that he originates new language.

That is why I like the movie, “The Lord of the Rings”. I never get tired of watching this movie and I learn a lot of things watching this movie.

Essay5 The Worst Day In My Life

I can remember clearly the day when I had a lot of misfortunes. I think it is the worst day in my life.

The morning on the day was rainy so I went to my university with my umbrella. It was so far so good but I found that I forgot to take my commuter pass with just when I got it, so I went back my home to take it. Then, I rushed back to the Yatsushiro station and managed to catch a next train. In the train I got sleepy so I didn't know when I arrived at Kumamoto station. Because I got off hastily the train to change trains there, I left my umbrella in the train but then I didn't find it. I found it when I left Suizenji station. It is too late then. The train had gone. Therefore, I hurried through the rain to my university and I got wet in the rain. As a result, I was soaking wet all the day because it was rainy when I also went back home.

That is why that it started forgetting my commuter pass all, so I have always taken care not to forget something since that day. I think the day was my worst day.

Essay4 My Memorable Day

I have a lot of memorable days so I will talk about one of my memorable days. I think it is a trip to Yokosuka with my family.

When I was 18 years old and a cram school student in the summer vacation, I went to Yokosuka because I wanted to go “hide museum” in Yokosuka. I’m a big fan of hide. I had never been there, but the museum was going to close in September of that year so I once wanted to go there anyway. Of course I was a cram school student so I had to study more and more to pass university entrance exam, but I thought I lived to repent if I didn't go there.
When I went there actually, I was deeply moved by a lot of displays about hide such as his guitars, his photo, his stage costumes and his hand written song lyrics and so on. After that, I went shopping in “LEMONed SHOP”, which was produced by hide. There are many goods of limited edition so I bought the goods.

That is why my memorable day is this trip. It was quite special trip for me so I know I’ll miss him forever.

Essay3 My Favorite Animal

What are my favorite animals? I like nothing special. To stretch a point, I like dogs and cats because they are cute. So, I will talk about dogs and cats.

First, I mention characteristics of dogs. They have social conscious and they act in a group. Human beings and dogs have known each other long so they are obedient to us. Dogs also are essential for our life such as a shepherd’s dog, a seeing-eye dog, a police dog, a search and rescue dog and so on.

Second, I state features of cats. They have whiskers to decide to pass through narrow aisle or not, so that these whiskers help them run away natural enemies. By the way, why do we think cats are cute? It is probably that they have big eyes for their face comparatively and they have a round face.

In addition, dogs and cats are often used as a word of the proverbs. In proverbs using a word, “dog”, there are “Let sleeping dogs lie.” “Every dog has his day.” On the other hand, “cat” also appears in some proverbs, such as “Even a cat may look at a king.” “A cat has nine lives.”

Thus, dogs and cats are on friendly terms with us and they are popular as a pet because it is easy for us to have pets. I have never had pets so I want to have pets.

Essay2 Description of an object

Today, music is loved all over the world. The music can be divided into several types.
The first type is the classical music. Generally, classical music is considered to be Western traditional music, but originally, to be Western traditional religious music and music of Imperial Court. The second type is jazz. The origin of jazz is mixture of the labor song which blacks song, blues, and white music culture. A characteristic of jazz is a free form of expression. Now, jazz is one of the modern styles of music art beyond a race, nationality and genre. The last type is rock music which is a genre of popular music born in the U.S. in 1950’s. The rock music gave not only other music but also, thought, fashion, art, and pop cultures a shock, very strong. The rock music tends to strongly express a rebellious spirit and against the established general ideas and system. Moreover, rock music can be divided into more groups, for example, hard rock, heavy metal, punk rock and more!
These types are just a few examples of types of music. New genres may be born from now on.

Essay1 Self Introduction

Hello! My name is Hi-Ho. I’m from Kumamoto, Japan and 20 years old. Now, I’m in Kumamoto Gakuen University and my major is English.

I love music, so my hobbies are listening to music, especially rock, and playing the guitar. However, it is very difficult to play the guitar smoothly so I practice now.
My favorite Japanese bands (musicians) are “X-JAPAN”, “hide”, “THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS”, “ZEPPET STORE”, “the pillows” and so on. I like lots and lots of bands!
Moreover, in foreign bands, I like “Nine Inch Nails”, ”Stone Temple Pilots” and oldies(The Beatles etc…) Do you like music? If you answer “Yes”, who musician do you like? Please tell me about them.

What do I like reading? I like fantasy stories, for example, “The Load of the Rings”. I was greatly moved by the movie, so I read it written in Japanese. Now, I want to read it written in English.

By the way, I have two dreams. First, I want to be an English teacher. When I was a high school student, I met a great English teacher. English he taught is very interesting so I like English. That’s why I want to be an English teacher like him. Secondly, I want to be a translator because I became interested in translating when I watched the movie, “The Load of the Rings”.
That is why I like English through music, reading and having a marvelous English teacher.
